Balance Testing in Denver and Surrounding Areas

If you're experiencing frequent dizziness, vertigo, or a general sense of imbalance, you're not alone and you don’t have to keep living with it. At Colorado Ear Care, we offer advanced balance disorder testing to patients across Denver, Arvada, Castle Rock, Greeley, Lakewood, and Louisville, CO.

Understanding Balance Disorders

Maintaining proper balance requires the coordination of your vestibular system, vision, and sensory input from your muscles and joints. If any part of this network isn’t working properly, you may experience dizziness, vertigo, or imbalance. These symptoms may seem minor, but they can limit daily activities and signal more serious underlying health concerns.

The good news: Accurate testing and diagnosis are more accessible than ever and with the right treatment plan, relief is possible.

Advanced Vestibular Testing Services

At Colorado Ear Care, we offer some of the most comprehensive vestibular testing in the region, including:

Rotary Chair Testing

Available in only a few select clinics nationwide, this technology is also used by Johns Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic. The test uses infrared video goggles and a motorized chair to assess how your eyes respond to movement—helping us identify dysfunctions in the horizontal semicircular canal and superior vestibular nerve.

Videonystagmography (VNG)

The most widely used test for evaluating vestibular function. Infrared cameras track eye movement during head and body positioning, revealing signs of vertigo, inner ear disorders, or central nervous system abnormalities.

Vestibular-Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP)

This specialized test evaluates the saccule, which helps your brain interpret vertical motion. It’s quick, non-invasive, and highly effective for pinpointing inner ear issues.

Gans Sensory Organization Performance (SOP) Test

This test determines whether your balance relies too heavily on vision or surface stability. It’s simple, fast, and great for evaluating how your brain integrates balance input.

Visual Acuity Testing

This test identifies how your vision changes with head movement, providing useful data to guide vestibular rehabilitation therapy.

Audiologic Testing

Because the hearing and balance systems are interconnected, a full hearing evaluation is also key. Our audiologists perform traditional audiometry, as well as Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) and Brainstem Auditory Evoked Responses (BAER) testing to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your hearing and vestibular health.
